The City of Ilwaco is accepting Declaration of Interest Applications for City Council Position #5 vacancy created by the election of Councilmember Gary Forner to the position of Mayor. Service begins in January.
“The Ilwaco City Council works together to pass laws and make policies that affect the present and future of Ilwaco,” said outgoing Mayor Mike Cassinelli. “Councilmembers should have a desire to make this town the best it can be and care about the people and what goes on. They should have the time and be willing to get involved. I think the council has a lot to accomplish this year, and I hope we find candidates ready to not only identify problems and challenges, but ready to work with the other councilmembers to focus on solutions.”
Under Washington State Code, a council vacancy is filled after interviews and a vote by the City Council. The appointee will serve until the term is filled by election in November 2018 . Applicants must be a registered voter in Pacific County at the time of application and have resided within the Ilwaco city limits for at least one year. The City Council meets regularly on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 6:00 p.m., at the Ilwaco Community Building. Council workshops are frequently scheduled prior to meetings. Additional workshops and committee meetings are scheduled during business and evening hours.
Applications for appointment to the City Council are available on this website under “Forms & Permits – Miscellaneous” or at Ilwaco City Hall, 120 First Av, in Ilwaco. Applications must be received by Friday, January 19, 2018, 5:00 p.m.
